Weird Face is a collaborative music blog fueled by the intention to highlight up and coming artists, address topics about life as an independent artist, and share highly opinionated thoughts on the music industry and live music scenes in locations around the U.S. It is the semi-incestuous (they’re like brothers) brainchild of rap artist O’baekey (Owen Baekey) and indie rock artist shmoo (Teddy Tietze). Owen and Teddy met in their freshman year of college in New Orleans and have gone on to collaborate with writing music, event planning, and now Weird Face. Yeah, you could go and read Pitchfork, or more locally Offbeat or Where Y’at, but services like that tend to overlook the little guys; the ones not getting the recognition they deserve. Our intention is to be the platform that starts bringing people’s eyes to the Weird Faces out there. While Weird Face is primarily a music blog, this page provides many features. As well as the aforementioned articles, on this site you will also find curated playlists showcasing independent artists from New Orleans + up and coming artists from around the United States, and a podcast where Owen and Teddy talk about various concepts around independent artistry. Podcast topics can range from philosophical conversations on the differences in the music industry on a genre by genre basis, tips to new artists, recording equipment specs, new artists you should have on your radar, and other shit. Despite the fact that Owen and Teddy can hardly ever agree on anything, for some reason they thought this was gonna be a good idea. Tune in, you’re in for a fucking ride.
